About Beneé
Who I Am
Born in Kansas City, Kansas, I am a 6th generation Kansan. Â My family relocated to Johnson County in 1984 where I attended the Olathe Public schools. Â I earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Baker University and hold 2 associates degrees in liberal arts and interactive media, both earned at Johnson County Community College. Â I am currently working on my certificate in American Sign Language/Deaf Studies. Education is big part of my life and ensuring students of all ages have access to great schools is a priority.
Communities help to shape our lives and guide our future success. Â It’s why I have been dedicated to the greater Kansas City community sharing Christ’s love through my volunteer work over the past 30+ years.
I currently reside in Overland Park with my daughter.
My Background
Over the years I have held a wide variety of roles which have given me a vast and unique skill set, including human resource management, telecommunications, healthcare, information technology and process improvement.
While working for several Fortune 500 companies in the Kansas City area, I stumbled upon my true passion, data. Through those career opportunities, I gained knowledge in various programming languages, data structures, algorithms, and data visualization principles. I have 20 years of IT experience and 15 years proficiency in Data Science and Analytics.
Understanding data and transforming it into actionable insights is one of the many ways that I will be able to lend expertise to various committees and assist with budgeting for our state.

I currently sit on the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Overland Park, have volunteered for KC Hospice House, Lyric Opera, Olathe Trailblazers (Special Olympics), ShelterKC (formerly KCRM), Newhouse KC, Veterans Community Project. I also serve at my church in the Media Ministry. Â
In 2017 I partnered with of the City of Overland Park under the direction of former Mayor Gerlach to support my community after the CityPlace fire. Â Additionally, I am a CERT member and volunteer through the Citizen’s Academy for the Sheriff’s Office.
