Fresh Leadership, Real Results for Wyandotte County
“We need more problem solvers and fewer career politicians in Topeka. As your representative, I am bringing people together to get results for families in our community. When our community prospers, our citizens prosper!”
Meet Mike
Mike Thompson proudly served our country for 22 years in the military. He was in the U.S. Navy with SEAL Team Two, then later in the U.S. Army as Command Chaplain for the 82nd Airborne, 7th Special Forces Group, and Delta Force.
As a civilian, Mike has served as a police officer and ministered as a chaplain in five different hospitals. In his career, he also worked for the U.nion Pacific Railroad and owned a welding shop.
Mike values community service. He has been instrumental in leading the local Minister’s Fellowship to promote cooperation among the faith community and, as an antique car enthusiast, was selected two years in a row to be chairman of the T.iblow Days Car Show. As a city council member, he was part of a team that initiated the building of a new government services center and modern water production and treatment facility to meet our community’s needs.
Mike and his wife Debbie have been married for 50 years and have two adult children.
Throughout his life, Mike Thompson has worked to bring people together and get things done. Now he’s using those problem-solving skills in Topeka — to put us first! Mike looks for bipartisan solutions to keep our state moving forward.
Help Working Families & Protect Seniors
It’s time to grow jobs and wages — and address skyrocketing property taxes and utility costs by cutting wasteful spending.
Keep Neighborhoods Safe & Strong
Our community and first responders must stand together to improve public safety and reduce crime.
Focus on Results for Kids
Let’s get more education dollars into the classroom, give parents a seat at the table, and focus on better outcomes for our students. Results matter!
Protect Our WyCo Way of Life
Strong families are the foundation of our community. That means politicians should put Wyandotte County families first, not special interests or bigger government. And we must work together to defend our constitutional rights and the most vulnerable among us.
Do you live in Kansas House District 33?
Following the once-a-decade legislative redistricting process, we have new District 33 boundaries for the 2024 election.
Interstates 70 and 435 run through the heart of the 33rd House District, and the Kansas River flows along our southern border. In this special place, we enjoy NASCAR, the Legends, Azura Amphitheater, the Ag Center, the New American Royal complex and a lot of the great outdoors.
Best of all, we have hardworking people, great churches, and wonderful families in our district, which encompasses the communities of Turner, Morris, Muncie and Delaware Ridge in Kansas City, KS, Bonner Springs, Edwardsville and the northernmost tip of Lake Quivira.
